26th Jan 2020 - Fishing Report w/e 26th January 2020

Milder and more settled weather this week, has given the anglers a chance to enjoy their days fishing. However an area of high pressure, effected the fish at the beginning of the week, however as the week progressed some better bag numbers were achieved fishing Nymphs, Buzzers and Lures. During the milder spells, we began to see some fish rising and feeding quite heavily in the top inches of water. Matty Devine landed a cracking 10lb Rainbow on Long Crag this week, Trevor Wadds netted a lovely 9lb Rainbow also from long Crag and Phil Green also returned a 8lb Rainbow this week.

  • Trevor Wadds from Longframlington netted 17 fish over two visits this week, using Blobs and Lures.
  • Matty Devine from Hadston used Fluffcats and Bloodworms to return 11 fish to Long Crag, having a 'Brill Day'
  • Newcastle angler, Jim Burtle used a Tequila Blob to return 7 fish to Long Crag
  • Craster angler, Alex Ainslie netted 5 fish from Long Crag using Mini Cats
  • Ray Wood from West Woodburn used Apps Bloodworms and Yellow Dancers to release 4 fish to Long Crag.
  • Greg Johnson from Ashington released 7 fish from the Boat using Mini Lures, including a 6lb and 8lb Rainbow.
  • Gosforth angler, David Billbrough used Buzzers and FAB's to return 7 fish over both lakes
  • Blyth angler, Dave Millican netted 5 fish from Coe Crag using Various Lures
  • Regular angler, Mick Brown used Buzzers and Lures to release 10 fish to Long Crag, including a 8lb Rainbow.
  • Alnwick angler, Steve Kelly used Diawl Bach's and Buzzers to return 6 fish over both lakes.
  • Ken Glenton from Ashington used Cats and Diawl Bach's to return 15 fish over both lakes.
  • Mitch Fawcus has a good day returning 11 fish to Coe Crag.
  • David McKenna netted 15 over both lakes using Various Lures.

Junior Fly Tying - On Wednesday 19th February, we will be holding a Junior Fly Tying from new starters or those wishing to develop their skills. it will run from 10am to 12.30pm, the cost is £10 (£7.50 sibling concession). Please contact the fishery on 01665 574400, to book a place.

Maximum of 13 Pairs per heat, £30 per angler to be fished on Long Crag Lake, 6 Hour C&R,6 Pairs go through from each heat.
