9th Feb 2020 - Fishing Report w/e 9th February 2020

A mixed week weather wise, however Thrunton has continued to produce some good bag numbers and some cracking quality of fish; with quite a few fully finned, over wintered fish being landed this week. A warm spell mid week, brought the fish high in the water, with some feeding on the surface, Buzzers and small Nymphs proved successful during this period.

  • Jonathan Reeder released 4 fish to Coe Crag using Olive Apps Worms and Buzzers
  • Longframlington angler, Trevor Wadds netted 11 fish from Long Crag using Blobs, Lures and Bloodworms
  • Rob Hall from Morpeth had a 'Good Day' returning 12 fish to Long Crag using a Damsel Pattern
  • Ashington angler, Ken Glenton returned 11 fish to Long Crag, including a beautifully marked Brownie, all caught using Diawl Bach's
  • Rob Steel released 4 fish to Long Crag, caught using Blobs and Buzzers, his best fish between 4-5lb
  • Stew Cameron had a 'Good Day in the Boat' landing 9 fish in total, using Red Bloodworms and Diawl Bach's
  • Lawrence Hunter used a Red Squirmy to land 8 fish from Long Crag
  • Craig Blundell used Pineapple Blobs to net 9 fish from both lakes, also landing a cracking Thrunton Tiger
  • Regular angler, Mick Brown from Bedlington returned 9 fish to Long Crag using Various Lures
  • A. Rennoldson used a Black Buzzer to release 7 fish to Long Crag, having a 'Good Day'
  • G. Hughes from Stanley returned 7 fish over both lakes using a Dancer.

Junior Fly Tying - On Wednesday 19th February, we will be holding a Junior Fly Tying from new starters or those wishing to develop their skills. it will run from 10am to 12.30pm, the cost is £10 (£7.50 sibling concession). Please contact the fishery on 01665 574400, to book a place.

Thrunton Long Crag Spring Pairs Competition
First prize – Weekend stay (two Nights) at Bracken Cottage for four people plus fishing vouchers
Cash prizes for second and third place
Cash Prizes will also be given for the top three pairs in each heat
Heat Prizes (per pair): First £60, Second £40, Third £20
The Competition will be fished over two heats followed by the final.Heats to take place on: Saturday 29thFebruary & Sunday 15thMarch.The final will take place on: Sunday 19thApril
Maximum of 13 Pairs per heat, £30 per angler to be fished on Long Crag Lake, 6 Hour C&R,6 Pairs go through from each heat.
